I want to say thank you very much! My husband is a writer and we both as readers and writers have become so disheartened of late of how much left wing propaganda is saturating the sci-fi and fantasy spheres. Even when we find those who aren't completely woke themselves, they are blind to the effects within their own group and tolerate the virus to an alarming degree. It makes professional networking a minefield and my husband has had a very difficult time finding like minded authors to associate with.

So thank you very much for publicizing these books! It helps to know there are folks with right wing ideologies who are writing and creating as well!

A minor quibble: Mara isn't developmentally disabled; she's physically disabled (blind, has minor communications problems, and has difficulty controlling her legs) but is mentally normally capable.

My one complaint with the novel is that the conclusion only works if one posits that for-profit corporations are altruistic messiah conglomerates only held back from blessing the world by nasty governments. I'm demonstrably and solidly right-wing, but that was too much even for me.

Yeah, looking back that was some very optimistic proselytizing. One supposes Cole would have a different take a decade later, with all that's happened.

Well, there's also the issue that cerebral palsy is structural and there isn't going to be some magic wand to wave to make the defective brain development go away. It's one thing to cure even something like type 1 diabetes, where if you can just implant a blob of cells to pump out insulin (and permanently protect the blob from the autoimmune problem that killed the originals) the person would be cured, quite another to rewire the brain without damaging anything else.
