Harryhausen's stop-motion animation was brilliant, and far more sincere in its compelling usage in the story than most modern CGI effects. But he seems to have taken the secret of doing these kind of films so well to his grave with him.
I've never seen this movie or even clips of it. Now I'm off to Tubi to see if I can find it as this review makes it sound like something I would like to see!
Absolutely agree. The love story works better than any modern film. And hey, who doesn't love Ray Harryhausen's stop motion animation?
I really miss this type of love story! It would be great to have more like it again. Better get back to writing some....
And yes, who could hate Ray Harryhausen's stop motion animation? That was always pure gold! :D
I should rewatch this. As a kid I didn't notice the human story so much -- I watched the Harryhausen films for the Harryhausen creatures.
