I really enjoyed this book and the two sequels -- Paxton is such an interesting character, and the mother/villain is not at all typical of either a mother/villain or a super lefty college professor -- both what she does and her motivations are really striking and different. I found it a really strong, well-written, and intriguing series.
The fourth book begins another series and is not nearly as strong. The characters lose most of what makes them different and turn into a more typical "hero squad with special powers," but not in an interesting way. I hope that Humphries recaptures their unique qualities in future books. But even if not, these three remain as a great trio.
